The 14 page order is a victory for Prosecutors who oppose the law. Under the law Prosecutors must now prove by “clear and convincing” evidence that someone wasn’t acting in self defense. From the time the original Stand Your Ground law was passed in Florida in 2005, until 2014, gun-related homicides have increased nearly 32%, according to a study published by the American Medical Association. Meanwhile there has been a general decline in homicide in the US since the early 1990’s.
