Tallahassee, Fla. – In the wake of Friday evening’s shooting at Hot Yoga Tallahassee that left a Florida State University professor and student dead and several others injured, the Florida Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence issued the following statement:
“We are shocked and saddened by the news last night of the horrific shooting at the Hot Yoga studio last night that claimed the lives of two Florida State University members: Dr. Nancy Van Vessem and a student, Maura Binkley, as well as injuring several others. According to news reports, several people in the studio courageously fought back against the shooter, which may have saved additional lives. We send our sincere condolences to the families of Dr. Van Vessem and Ms. Binkley and grieve with our beloved Tallahassee community. We pledge to remain vigilant in our fight to reduce gun deaths and injuries in our state and will honor the victims with action.”
